The D780 bullet train departed from Xi'an, the capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, and arrived in Ordos, a city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on May 31.

The trip marked the official launch of the Fuxing high-speed train, which travels from Xi'an to Ordos at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

Compared with the existing regular-speed trains, the average round-trip travel time has been reduced by about five and a half hours. Passengers can make a return trip between the two places within a single day – greatly enhancing intercity travel convenience.

Xi'an and Ordos are two well-known tourism cities. After June every year, Ordos enters its peak tourist season.

Now that the high-speed train is operational, it is a convenient link between the world-famous historic city of Xi'an and China's top city for ethnic tourism, Ordos.

The new rail route highlights the complementary advantages of tourism resources in Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia and will help deepen cultural exchanges and economic cooperation between the two places.

In addition, the train also passes through old revolutionary areas such as Yan'an and Yulin cities in northern Shaanxi, providing expedient travel services for red tourism.
