Xi'an Metro introduces environment-themed train

A special train themed around the environment on Xi'an's Metro Line 2 started operating on June 1 in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province. This is the first time Shaanxi has promoted environmental preservation on a metro carriage.

The interior of the six-carriage train is a natural green color, with posters of the green slopes and waters of the Qinling Mountains promoting ecological civilization to the public.

It features pictures of the four treasures of the Qingling Mountains (the golden monkey, giant panda, crested ibis, and takin), as well as pictures of the mountains themselves.

During the journey, passengers can learn about the four treasures of the Qingling Mountains and about environmental protection.

The train carriages also feature an exhibition of the province's environmental achievements during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), allowing riders to witness the vast environmental changes that have taken place.

In 2020, the province saw its best air quality since the country first implemented new monitoring standards.

The average PM2.5 concentration in the 10 national examination cities was 41.27 micrograms per cubic meter, while the average number of days with good air quality increased to 295 days.
